📝 Description

Samsung SM-A107 (Galaxy A10s) – MT6357 Power IC Hardware Solution

Samsung SM-A107 (Galaxy A10s) is a MediaTek based smartphone, and its power section is controlled by the MT6357 Power IC. This IC is one of the most important components on the motherboard. In daily repair work, many dead, no-power, and auto-restart problems in this model are caused by MT6357 failure.

What MT6357 Power IC Does

The MT6357 Power IC takes power from the battery and distributes stable voltage to all main parts of the phone. It supplies power to the CPU, RAM, eMMC, display, backlight, camera, audio, and network section. When the power button is pressed, this IC starts the power-on sequence. If the MT6357 is faulty, the phone will not turn on even if the battery is fully charged.

Common Problems in SM-A107

From practical repair experience, these problems usually point to MT6357 power IC issues:

Phone completely dead, no vibration or display

No response when pressing the power key

Phone restarts automatically

Phone stuck on logo

Very low or zero charging current

Power IC area heats immediately after battery connection

No display or no backlight

These issues often happen after water damage, heavy drop, charging short, power surge, or use of low-quality chargers.

How to Diagnose MT6357 Power IC

First, check the battery voltage. It should be around 3.8V to 4.2V. Then check the main power line (VPH_PWR) using a multimeter. If battery voltage is present but the phone is still dead, the MT6357 becomes the main suspect.

Using a DC power supply helps a lot. If there is no current draw or unstable current when the power key is pressed, it usually indicates a power IC problem. Also check for short circuit near the MT6357 area.

Visual inspection is important. Any corrosion, burned components, or damaged coils and capacitors near the power IC can cause power failure.

Hardware Repair Solution

Sometimes, reflow of the MT6357 IC works if the problem is due to dry solder or loose joints. However, this is only a temporary solution.

The permanent solution is MT6357 Power IC replacement. Remove the faulty IC carefully using controlled hot air temperature. Clean the pads properly and install a new or reballed MT6357 IC. After soldering, always check for short circuit before connecting the battery.

Also inspect nearby coils, resistors, and capacitors. A small faulty component can also damage the power IC or stop the phone from powering on.

Important Precautions

Always disconnect the battery before heating

Do not overheat the motherboard

Use good quality flux and proper tools

Confirm the fault before replacing the IC
